The Roles

Behind every customer's warm home is a whole team of people working to help keep it that way, from our hometeam Technicians to our Call Centre Advisers.

Here are some examples of the main opportunities we offer:

Installation Technicians

Supervising engineers and assistants, you'll oversee the fitting of domestic boilers and gas central heating systems. Technicians are responsible for running the team, managing the workload and dealing with any issue that may arise. To join us, you must be gas qualified and have experience of installing all types of central heating systems to a high standard. As you'll be representing npower and working in people's homes, we also look for excellent customer service skills.

Installation Engineers

Working as part of a small team, you'll help with all aspects of fitting domestic boilers and gas central heating systems - from checking and installing pipe runs to fitting radiators and 'making good'. A clean and tidy worker with excellent customer service skills, you'll have at least NVQ Level 2 in plumbing with on site experience, preferably in domestic central heating.

Installation Assistants

While our Engineers and Technicians do all the technical work of fitting domestic boilers and gas central heating systems, you'll provide all-round support. Helping check equipment and collect parts and materials, it's a varied role that will give you on the job training and a valuable first step into a career in installation. We'd like you to have some basic building trade experience.

Service and Repair Engineers

On-going service and maintenance is all part of our quality offer, and you'll be at the heart of this work, helping our customers get the best out of their boilers and gas central heating systems. Working carefully planned shifts, you'll receive jobs on your Personal Digital Assistant from an automatic scheduler. Expect to be busier with breakdowns in the winter, and with servicing during summer months. You must be gas qualified and, as you'll spend most of your time in people's homes, we also look for friendly outgoing individuals with good customer care skills.

Home Energy Consultants

Here, you'll play an important part in helping sell our domestic boilers and gas central heating systems. This is 'field based' work - e.g. you'll be out and about - visiting customers near where you live, carrying out surveys, providing quotes and answering queries. We'll train you well, and provide you with tools you need as well as most of your leads and appointments. We also offer an excellent basic salary plus commission, car allowance and benefits. The rewards can be good, but to succeed, you should be willing to carry out appointments when our customers can make them - which means days, evenings and sometimes at weekends. A background in sales is essential, ideally with central heating or a technical product.

Call Centre Advisers

Providing a polite, friendly and personal service, our hometeam call centre advisers answer inbound calls from customers and engineers, and make outbound calls to order parts or help sell our products. It's busy work, in a targets driven environment which can get pressured at peak times. But if you're able to help us meet service agreements, you'll get a buzz from the work and the rewards and incentives - not to mention an excellent salary and benefits. As well as either call centre or retail experience, you'll need excellent customer service skills. Find more information on specific roles within our hometeam contact centre by clicking here.
