Customer Services training

Training and development

We take the training and development of our team members very seriously, and this begins right at the start of your career with us. When you join, we'll give you a full induction, including an overview of npower’s structure, data protection, health and safety, and guidance on our systems and processes. Our dedicated team will then give you bespoke training for the department you'll be joining. The length and content of this training will depend on the work you'll be doing and the tasks you'll need to complete day-to-day. You'll also receive ongoing guidance from your Team Manager in the form of regular reviews to highlight areas for future development.

Starting Your Career with npower

When you join us, you will go on a comprehensive training journey lasting up to five weeks. During this time, you will learn about npower and the values and behaviours that make us the company we are today and our vision for the future. You will learn about our industry, our customers and our products and will become aware of just how important you are in helping us provide excellent customer service to support our npower brand. Before you join your new team, you will have acquired the knowledge and skills you will need to be able to perform your role; within the training environment you will have the opportunity to build your confidence by working on live customer accounts with the support of your trainer and experts in the business area.

Stepping Stones

Once you are competent in your adviser role, there are many opportunities to help you develop further, should you wish to do so. The Stepping Stones Programme is the first step in enhancing your soft skills and exploring and understanding behaviours. If you are successful in securing a place on Stepping Stones, you will embark on a nine month journey of discovery delivered through a combination of workshops and tutorials and self study. Successful completion of Stepping Stones will lead you to an ILM accredited Level 2 qualification.

Institute of Leadership & Management Courses

Initiate and Integrate are ILM accredited courses for our managers and employees within our support departments who are either looking to develop their career in the direction of management or to enhance their skills within their current management role. These are nine to twelve month programmes which focus on key skills, knowledge and behaviours in relation to managing people.

Personal Development Plans

Everyone has a role profile and their own individual personal development plan; you will be introduced to these during your Induction journey. Your personal development plan is created between you and your manager to help you identify and work on your own development needs in a way that compliments your learning style. Both your performance in your role and your progress with areas on your personal development plan are reviewed regularly by both you and your manager to highlight successes and to ensure your development is on-going.

Learning Resource Centres

RWE npower has on site Learning Resource Centres to support its Customer Services Operation, where you will be able to access thousands of courses supporting both vocational and personal development.
A wide range of subjects are on offer such as Numeracy, Literacy, Business Skills, IT skills and languages to name just a few. In fact there are approximately 3000 courses available in the Learning Centre curriculum, many of which are accredited, leading to a recognised qualification.
Our 'Big Tick' award winning Skills for Life programme has successfully helped hundreds of staff achieve National Adult qualifications in Maths or English and in some cases both subjects.
