Part of RWE npower, one of the UK’s largest gas and electricity suppliers, Energy Services is a relatively new business. As well as making sure npower products work as they should in consumers homes, Energy Services consists of several key areas including gas central heating systems servicing and repairs, metering services and developing new energy services and products for private domestic, council and social housing, Industrial and Commercial customers.
Metering and Data Services are responsible for the management and control of npower’s external metering budget and metering functions. The main purpose of the job is to support the back office function in the management of compliance/technical related issues and support contract management in the validation of transactional charging received from external metering businesses.
The role will involve the on-site auditing of works completed by 3rd parties over a national footprint on a regular basis, therefore requiring regular travel and potentially frequent overnight stays.
In addition, the Gas MAM function will require technical support to ensure that the compliance obligations of the industry are maintained both internally within the business and externally through the actions of 3rd parties employed to carryout site works.
Involvement with the current and future development of Gas and Electricity metering business
Manage the MAMCOP and MOCoPA accreditation process
Ensuring all risks related to MAM technical process are recorded and have mitigation in place
Manage the OAMI Accreditation Process
Manage the Gas Safe Register Process
Provision of technical and project support to the Meter Operations business
Actively involved in shaping current and future asset procurement strategies within the metering function
Management of failed assets and warranties
Testing and investigation of new metering technologies including HH meters and modems
Assessment of sub-contractor operatives ensuring they have the necessary technical, Health & Safety knowledge to carry out metering installations
Management of audit of 3rd party metering organisations on behalf of npower suppliers Ensuring transactional work invoiced meets actual completed work
Mitigation of business risk through risk robust planning and delivery to key milestones
Evidence of effective stakeholder management essential and engagement through written and verbal communications assessed through 360° feedback
Maintenance of Meter Instruction Manual for use by field operations
• Degree educated or equivalent qualification
• Good stakeholder management and interpersonal skills
• Experience of technical issue related problem solving within a complex business environment
• Experience of successful involvement in projects through the full project life cycle
• Experience of handling conflicting demands, prioritising workloads and delegating effectively in order to deliver
• Commercial awareness and ability to derive an articulated future-state and associated business benefits
• NEBOSH certification
• Meter Certification Regulations experience
• System authorised to appropriate standard
• HNC Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification
• MAMCOP Knowledge & Understanding
• CCN1, MET1 or equivalent qualification
• Gas Safe Registration experience
• OAMI process and procedures
Salary - circa £30,000 per annum
