5 reasons why you should work at npower

11/12 2018Posted by: npower Resourcing Team Subscribe to this blog

With offices all over the country and roles spanning everything from IT to user experience and customer services, it’s fair to say the npower team is diverse. While we employ thousands of people across the UK, we’re a close-knit bunch that works well together and celebrates each other’s success. It’s a great place to work – find out why:

Rewards and recognition that pack a punch

Our awards system and benefits programme are among the best things about working for npower, according to our 2018 Organisational Health Index survey. Our people empower themselves and their colleagues by using our Applause internal recognition system, with dedicated development programmes in place to help people achieve more in their careers. With benefits that include childcare policies, a cycle scheme, agile working and life assurance, our business is committed to acknowledging the efforts of the whole team and ensuring npower is a great place to work.

A variety of different areas to try out

As one of the ‘big five’ UK energy suppliers, npower’s size and market dominance means our team gets to experience working in a busy, ever-evolving large-scale environment. And while energy is our bread and butter, that doesn’t mean roles here are limited to power engineers and customer services roles. As we supply energy to around 5.1 million customers, there’s a lot that happens behind the scenes to make sure we not only service our customer to the best of our abilities, but also satisfy our commercial requirements. The means we need people working across a huge variety of different career areas, from HR and resourcing through to IT, project management and digital.

Jobs at every level

As well as having opportunities across different business areas, we also have roles at every level, from early careers through to senior positions within our executive management team. Many of our people start as students in our internships and graduate schemes, training in particular areas before moving their way through the business. Others come to us mid-way in their careers, perhaps without energy experience but with the right attitude and aptitude. Our contact centres around the country provide another opportunity for people to take career steps with npower. Whether you’re just starting your working life, considering a career change or want to take the next step up, we could have the role to suit.

A fun and friendly work environment

npower is not only a great place to further your career, but it’s also a positive, inclusive environment that encourages people to work together and enjoy each other’s company. We have plenty of opportunities to get involved in the community and charity work, including our ongoing support of Children in Need and Macmillan. We recently celebrated #SpiritFest amongst our customer services teams, which saw festival-themed days of fun put on to acknowledge the ongoing efforts of people working in this crucial part of the business. There are sports teams to get involved in, social events during and outside of work hours and a genuinely warm, friendly environment in which to work.

A constantly improving workplace

The energy industry undergoes near-constant change, which means that we must adapt and evolve as a business in order to keep up. Our firm focus on continuous improvement is one of the reasons why people like working at npower. We offer a positive, challenging culture that encourages innovation and embraces change, which makes npower an exciting place to work for anyone who’s interested in staying ahead of the curve.
