5 Reasons You Should Work For The Commercial Team

Generation Services Operations Lead Tim Dart reveals his top five reasons he enjoys working in the Commercial Team.
Right: Tim cheers on fellow RWE npower staff at a Macmillan charity race

I’ve worked within npower’s commercial department for three years and have enjoyed every minute of it! I enjoy managing my team – everybody’s a real star. Here are my top five reasons why I think you should join…

1. Open to change

We’re all aware of npower’s aim to become the best at customer service and we play a central role. Our involvement in the customer journey means we embrace change in order to improve both internal and external customers’ happiness with us. It keeps things exciting as we are constantly looking at new ways to improve the service we offer – nobody gets bored here!

2. Job diversity

The saying ‘no two days are the same’ was probably based on our department! It’s very rare for me to experience similar days in a week. We are supported to work from the most appropriate place to complete a task – whether that’s in the office, in a quiet room elsewhere in the building, from home or even a different npower office altogether! One day I’ll be catching up with my team to see how they are getting on, and the next I’ll be on the road to visit another location and make sure we’re all pulling in the right direction.

3. Opportunities for development

From informal activities to recognised training schemes, the managers at npower are keen for their employees to develop and learn. We all provide support and enjoy watching our teams grow and learn new skills!

4. Collaborative nature

Everybody in the Commercial Team likes to work with other teams to resolve issues and make sure we’re on top of our game. We’re better together and it’s a lot more fun like that – it’s really satisfying to see projects develop with lots of people helping out along the way.

5. One big happy team

The Commercial Team are really social and work well together. We like to get involved with raising money for charity and lots of us are keen on volunteering to give something back to the community. We enjoy celebrating everybody’s birthdays and special occasions… there’s always cakes going round the office!

If you’re interested in a role within our commercial functions, I’d love to hear from you. We’ve got a number of vacancies at the minute so please do take a look!
