Channel your ambition with our Operational Management graduate programme

13/11 2017Posted by: npower Resourcing Team Subscribe to this blog

The modern graduate is driven, ambitious and eager to hit the ground running. At npower, we know our graduates have enormous potential, so we structure our graduate schemes accordingly. One of these is the Operational Management programme, which has been created to help produce future leaders of the business. If you’re looking for a grad scheme that enables you to be a change maker and have a real impact on the business, this could be the perfect opportunity.

Broad experience with a customer focus

All of npower’s graduate programmes offer a wide range of learning opportunities across multiple business units, allowing participants to get a taste of different areas to see which career path might suit them best. The Operational Management scheme certainly provides an overarching view of some of the many roles and responsibilities within the wider business, but has a core focus on development within operational management, customer experience, sales, service and relationship management functions. We’re looking for people we can develop throughout this part of the business to become leaders of the future, which means that our graduates need to be driven, motivated and eager to not only learn, but also impart their own knowledge and opinions.

The kinds of people we want on this scheme are those who want to manage teams and processes, driving npower’s people agenda and influencing and inspiring both customers and the business.

A fresh pair of eyes

We want to develop a talent pipeline within this part of the business, introducing new ideas and challenging thinking to the more established processes we have in place. This is an ideal opportunity for movers and shakers who aren’t satisfied with the status quo – we want our Operational Management graduates to feel empowered to offer insights, provide new ways of thinking and help lead us into the future. There is huge scope for development both during and after the scheme, particularly for those graduates who showcase talent and ambition. Customer-focus is an essential part of this scheme, as is the ability to engage and inspire people. We want active listeners who are always curious and asking why and how things are done – and what can be done to improve them.

Environments with enormous potential

The programme is largely concerned with the management and operation of customer facing environments, which presents some of the biggest opportunities for growth, development and change anywhere in npower. Operational leadership is an integral part of any organisation, and those working within this area in npower are key influencers across the business. Graduates who have the chance to influence and lead such a major part of the business will be presented with huge opportunities, which can be harness to create a really rewarding career.

We know that this space will be undergoing significant development and change into 2018 and beyond, so those who join at this time will experience a business that is moving with the times and undertaking positive change. In order to get the best from, and deliver the best to, our customer, we need people who can operate at a high level and deliver a superior level of service. In return, we’ll give you a vibrant, supportive and engaging work environment with phenomenal influence and potential.

Sound like you?

If you have a natural interest in customer experience, people leadership and management, this scheme could be the perfect fit for you. You don’t need energy industry experience, but you do need to be motivated and driven. The energy industry moves rapidly, which means our graduates need to be open to change and excited to work in a large, constantly-evolving space.

You’ll develop world-class customer service skills, work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and have the ability to influence and impact real change, learning from some of the best leaders in the industry. We pride ourselves on encouraging a positive work-life balance, where flexibility is encouraged and people are given the space required to think innovatively and creatively. As an Operational Management graduate, you’ll be the change the company is looking for.

If you’re interested in the Operational Management scheme, we’d love to hear from you. Find out more about it here, or apply directly here.
