Dodgeball for a cause: npower charity competitions heat up

02/08 2017Posted by: npower Resourcing Team Subscribe to this blog

npower’s charity partnership with Macmillan has been well documented, and we’re always looking at new ways to support the brilliant work the charity does all over the UK. One of our latest fundraising efforts has been devised by our 2016 Graduate cohort, and it’s one of the most exciting charity events yet.

On August 10, employees from npower’s Solihull, Worcester and Leeds offices will be competing to be crowned the company’s ultimate champions in one of the fiercest sports of them all – dodgeball.

Teams will be limbering up and taking to the court at Solihull’s Tudor Grange Academy in order to not only test their sporting prowess, but also raise money for a brilliant cause. Graduates have opted to organise the unusual event as it’s the first of its kind for npower, and is a creative and energetic way for npower employees to get behind a good cause. With all competitors paying an entry fee, teams raising additional money and people throughout the business encouraged to donate, we’re anticipating a great result for our charity of choice. Tudor Grange Academy have been generous with the hire of their facilities and we have prizes on offer for the winning teams, with all money raised going straight to Macmillan.

Our graduates have a long tradition of raising money for the Macmillan partnership, and the current cohort saw this as a perfect opportunity to introduce a new sport to the company whilst continuing to support the cause.

If you’re not familiar with the five Ds of dodgeball – dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge, according to the eponymous film – it’s time to get acquainted. There’s still time to get involved by sponsoring our teams here. Stay tuned to find out how we fare on the day!
