What is the Smart programme?
The Smart Programme Delivery team is delivering the technical enablers that will result in npower being able to deploy c5 million smart meters by 2020 as part of the government’s Smart Programme rollout
It’s a large, complex business change programme that is set to transform that way npower delivers energy services across the UK. We work in stages (also known as releases) in order to provide a smooth implementation process for both our customers and our team.
What roles are we looking for?
Our tight-knit group is made up of four delivery teams working together to deliver the programme. We’re currently looking for Project Managers, Business Analysts and Test Analysts to help us supply Smart meters to homes across the UK.
Due to the scope of the project and the size of the RWE brand, Smart is just the beginning of a great career at npower. As you’d expect, there are lots of opportunities to move around into different programme areas.
What skills and attributes do I need to succeed in these positions?
We’d love to recruit Project Managers with Smart knowledge and experience, but any utilities and telecoms industry experience can be beneficial in this role. We understand that a strong Project Manager can flex to suit the project at hand, so we’re flexible with what we look for in terms of experience. The most important thing for our people to have is a positive, can-do attitude and a strong desire to learn and work in an exciting area of the energy industry.
Business Analysts who have experience and interest in requirement gathering will find plenty to get excited about with our Smart programme delivery. We’re exploring new initiatives and doing things we’ve never done before as a business, so this is a great opportunity for Analysts to contribute to major change. If you’re willing to learn and want to be part of a great team who is committed to shaping the future of the business, this is the role for you.
We’re also looking for Testers and Test Specialists who have experience in device, application and software testing. As with the other positions, the most important thing is attitude and the desire to be part of something big. You need to be able to adapt to changes from the industry and government, so a flexible attitude and ability to respond quickly to change is really important.
