Why work in our IT Service Delivery team?

16/01 2018Posted by: npower Resourcing Team Subscribe to this blog

Anyone who works in IT will attest to the fact that it is a dynamic, rapidly-evolving industry in which anything can happen on any given day. This is particularly true when your IT environment is within one of the largest retail energy companies in the country.

What we do

Our IT Service Delivery team is absolutely critical to the success of the entire npower business. The team is responsible for all the IT operations and management for sites across the UK, ensuring the day-to-day functionality of all IT systems and processes are smooth, seamless and efficient. We are responsible not only for fixing bugs and issues as they arise, but also ensuring that the service we deliver is the best is can possibly be.

Spread across multiple sites including Swindon, Solihull, Leeds and Durham, the IT Service Delivery team manages IT contracts, suppliers and licence agreements, as well as managing the handover of projects to operations as and when we need to. For more information on the work we do and the roles we have available, take a look at the following:

IT Supplier Performance Manager
IT Supplier Relationship Manager
IT Service Continuity and Risk Manager
IT Service Design and Integration Analyst
IT Service Manager
IT Licence Management analyst

What we’re looking for

As people have progressed through the business and the IT Service Delivery team, we’re now looking for talented people to take up newly created and vacant roles to help support the work we’re doing. As we’re increasing our service design capability, we need to bring the right people on board to help push us forward as we move into the next stage of the department, business and industry. We’ve designed a new operating model from the ground up and are now focusing heavily on the skills and behaviours required from our team to provide an end-to-end service for the business, and ultimately our customers.

Our team prides itself on being collaborative, with great communication skills and the kind of flexibility that ensures our geographically diverse business model works in harmony. We embrace modern communication platforms and encourage a flexible way of working in line with our agile policies. There’s a high volume of change that is inherent within the retail energy industry, and we are involved in many technical change processes where we implement new technologies and assist with organisational changes. As a result, team members need to be adaptable to change and be able to drive new ideas and concepts forward. We work with a strategic partner to support us in our day-to-day work, so successful candidates must be also comfortable with supplier governance and working with external partners.

Why join us?

One of the most exciting developments within our team is the use of automation and AI technologies. This will be a key component for us moving forward, and we’re therefore looking for people who are excited by these new technologies and eager to implement them in their daily work. As one of the leading companies in our industry in terms of automation, we can offer a unique opportunity for those with the right skillsets and motivations to work on some significant large-scale projects.

We’re committed to training and developing our people, and the ever-changing nature of our industry means there are plenty of opportunities for ongoing learning and progression. We encourage rotation through the team and see members taking on new roles and responsibilities regularly. The large-scale nature of our projects means our team has the chance to get involved in important, exciting work that directly impacts the business, whether that’s with more traditional systems or using emerging technologies.

The rapidly developing nature of the energy industry means every day is different for us, and we want our team members to embrace change and thrive on challenges. We’re invested in the continuous improvement of our team and processes, so people who come on board now will have the chance to help us shape what we do, why we do it and how we can do things better. We want to work proactively, not reactively, to drive improvements throughout IT. You will have a hands-on role in doing this, leveraging the previous investment we’ve made to the IT investment landscape to do so.
